Adverts or football?

Many football fans object to adverts interrupting a game of football; the game should take priority over them every day of the week and yet they don't. Now TV companies will tell you that the only way they get to show you a game is because adverts pay for it. That can't be disagreed with but surely the top of the list has to be the game; every single time!

The BBC cover games and there is never a problem as they don't have adverts; but they never cut away to a pundit when a Manager or player is being interviewed just after a game. This is a time when emotions are at the highest and they don't have time to think of a cliche answer; in other words the best time to get the truth!

This is what every single football fan wants to hear; not an advert for toilet rolls with a little puppy!

So after the final whistle in the Champions League Semi Final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund feelings were high between both clubs after the Spanish side lost over the two legs. Gabriel Clarke was on the verge of finding out Jose Mourinho's next club when; adverts!

Our reporter Gabriel Clarke managed to land an unexpected interview with Jose Mourinho with only two minutes left before the end of last night's Champions League programme on ITV.

At that stage it was too late to arrange an overrun of the broadcast beyond the allotted time. However, in a very tight, live situation, we showed as much as we possibly could of their exchange to viewers.

– AN ITV STATEMENT ON GABRIEL CLARKE'S INTERVIEW WITH JOSE MOURINHO.

No matter how you dress it up the adverts stopped ITV Sport from having a world exclusive; it was clear for all to see the Real Madrisd Manager was ready to say where he was going next!

One thing is for sure, adverts with football is a kick in the balls.
