City need to forget the magnificent seven.

The mood amongst Manchester City players, the coaching staff and the fans must be sky high right now and rightly so. After the show they put on against Norwich, confidence is overflowing but Champions League football as we all know is different; totally different!
What must have pleased the City boss was the fact that he had seven different goalscorers against the Canaries: a great team effort.
Manuel Pellegrini took over a strong squad and he seems to have given them a fresh look, a new energy.
Europe though is proving a hard nut to crack despite the talent the blues have in the camp.

David Silva is the man to watch and should City win tonight it will be the first time they will get through to the last sixteen; the owners must be pleased because European football is a lot tougher than the domestic league.

Will Joe Hart take his place between the sticks or will he warm the bench?

To be fair, his replacement Costel Pantilimon had nothing much to do at the weekend so I can't see him getting dropped but again it's a Champions League game and the experience of the England keeper may give him the nod.

'Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes the club are close to taking a significant step forward in their bid to join Europe's footballing elite.

City have won the FA Cup and the Premier League since the 2008 Abu Dhabi-funded takeover that transformed their fortunes and making an impact on the continent is their next objective.

After exiting at the group stage of the Champions League in each of the past two seasons, City are now potentially within 90 minutes of reaching the last 16 for the first time.

Victory over CSKA Moscow in their latest Group D fixture at the Etihad Stadium would be enough to secure their route through if Bayern Munich also avoid an unlikely defeat to minnows Viktoria Plzen.'

The knockout stages is where the football really gets exciting and the way the gaffer has City playing, a very European style, the blue side of Manchester could surprise a few people and go quite a long way in the competition.

With players like Aguero, Nasri and Yaya Toure in the team anything is possible. A win tonight and who knows.
