The greatest player in Ireland's history!

On the eighth of July nineteen eighty in the beautiful county of Dublin in the Emerald Isle, a superstar was born. His schoolboy team was Crumlin United FC and his eye for goal and his all round play was noticed by two clubs, Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He picked Wolves as he thought it would be easier to get into the side, he was just fifteen years of age. After two years in the youth set up he was given his debut in nineteen ninety seven; he done what he does best and that scoring goals and he had his first brace, the first of nearly two hundred and fifty career goals to date.

Today he is a household name and Irelands all time record goal scorer; Robbie Keane. No matter if it’s a club or international game, Keano always seems to find the net.

Niall Quinn was Ireland’s record goal scorer with twenty one goals but that was broken by Keane way back in two thousand and four. He is joint leading European goal scorer along with Raul and Jan Koller; he wears the Captain’s armband and is such a great role model for younger players and fans alike.

He shows little sign of retiring after scoring sixty goals at International level; every Manager he’s worked under has nothing but praise for him. He seems to bring the best out in players that play with him; a show of respect for a living legend.

He is now plying his trade in the United States and loving every minute of it.

It will be a sad day for both Ireland and football when Keano finally hangs up his boots; surely with the wealth of experience he has he’ll go into coaching and management.

He has raised the bar of Irish football and set records that many say will be hard to be beaten; it will take a monumental effort to overtake but make no mistake about it, Robbie Keane hasn’t finished yet by a long chalk.

He is the best player Ireland has ever produced; there’s only one Robbie Keane!
