When will an English Manager win the Premier League?

Can you name the last Englishman to win the Premier League?

It's a trick question as it's never happened; the Premier League is twenty one years old and to make things worse it's been won by a Scotsman on  fourteen occasions! Kenny Dalglaish winng it once with Blackburn Rovers and of course Sir Alex Ferguson on a record breaking thirteen times!

The last Englishman to win the top prize in English football was Howard Wilkinson when he was in charge of Leeds United but that was the season before the Premiership started!

So why, apart from the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson seemed to own the title, isn't there an Englishman even challenging for the title?

Has the coaching system in England let the top coaches down or are they just not good enough?

One of the answers is foreign owners want the best people for the job and sadly I can't name a top class English Manager that's a real world beater!

Just look at the top clubs and where the Manager is from; the top Englishman is Newcastle's Alan Pardew in ninth followed by Steve Bruce of Hull in tenth! West Ham United are the only other top flight club to have an English Manager in Sam Allardyce!

So the simple answer to the article's headline question; not anytime soon, in fact, a long time.

Just think about the ramifications of that in a few years time or sooner when Roy Hodgson steps down from his post; who is going to take over the 'hotseat'?

Players from the last ten to twenty years have earned very nicely from the beautiful game; why would they want the pressure of the job ? Not to mention the glare of the media; we all know how they treat the England football Manager.

Every ripple in football has an effect and it's already being felt; I'm sorry to say that with all the foreign players and coaches the game that was invented in this country is getting left behind and it will take a hell of a long time to get it back!
